Students’ Affective Learning Factors in Learning English in regard to Teachers’ Verbal Immediacy

Abstract

This study aims at finding out how students perceive teachers’ verbal immediacy that affects their attitude and motivation in learning English. A quantitative exploratory design was used in this research. In determining the subject of this research, this research applied the Purposive Sampling Technique. The data were collected by using observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The results of this research showed that all teacher’s verbal immediacy behaviors were perceived positively and rated high in affecting the students’ positive attitude and motivation in learning English. The researchers concluded that the students would have positive attitudes and high motivation in learning English when a teacher uses verbal immediacy behaviors in her teaching or interaction with her students.
